Holy Crap!
100 Years of Illinois Basketball, and they will be playing in their first ever National Championship game on Monday night, against the impending winner of the Michigan State/North Carolina game.
Part of me would like to play MSU since they are undoubtly the lessor team, but we played them twice already this year and beat them, and the never-ending self-doubt that's been ingrained in my head as a Chicago/UofI fan knows that a loss to lowly MSU in the Championship Game would be waaaay too painful to deal with.
So, the leaves the matchup with the only powerhouse left that Illinois hasn't played yet, North Carolina. If we had to lose, losing to North Carolina is respectable at least.
But either way, its a season to remeber for a lifetime. Like the first time the Bulls won it all. Sure, the next couple were nice too, but the first one will never be forgotten.
I picked Illinois to win in my bracket, but then again I have had them going to the Final Four at least 7 of the last 10 years. And always been let down.
It took 100 years to get here, but... wow... just wow!
